Frequently Asked Questions
What is ABA therapy?
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy is widely recognized as the most effective, evidence-based treatment for autism and is endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General and American Academy of Pediatrics. ABA therapy fosters basic skills such as looking, listening, requesting and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing and understanding another person’s perspective. ABA also helps reduce behaviors that make it difficult for children to learn.
Where will services be provided?
ABA therapy is offered in homes, schools and community and is provided under the direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). Therapists work closely with families and education professionals and apply the principles of ABA to teach language, social, self-help, academic, daily living and life skills.
What forms of payments are accepted?
ABA therapy is covered by many private and government insurance providers. Our trained professionals can provide support to help you determine your insurance benefits. Many insurance providers, government payers such as Medicaid and TRICARE for active duty and retired military personnel, and certain companies pay for all or some ABA therapy for children with autism. Some families choose to pay for the services they receive.
To learn if your benefits cover ABA therapy, we recommend you contact your insurance provider and your employee benefits coordinator. If you have any questions about how to determine whether you have this benefit or how you can obtain it, please contact us at (908) 938-1577.
